"Wings of Faith"
Debt down to $1.48 million -- What about 2009?
April 2009
This coming "Wings of Faith" Sunday is a great opportunity for First Baptist Church to continue to pay off the debt on the buildings. During our last year, the debt dropped below $1.5 million. In 2006, First Baptist gave enough to pay off the small loan. During the Winter of 2005-2006, the fellowship has paid another $168,000 on principal. The debt now stands at just a little over $1.6 million. After completing the Auditorium in 2001, First Baptist had two loans totaling $3.6 million. During 2007, a Long Range Planning Committee studied the future and plans to impact Wise County and the World. As we pay off more debt, it makes future ministries and expansions a reality. Right now the Vision Team and Youth Building Study Team are hard at work for future plans. Pray about giving and over and above offering to Wings.

"Wings of Faith" is the Vision of completing the dream of FBC Buildings and Relocation. It involves every member giving as God blesses to pay off the debt and soar into new ministries.
|
In the early 80's the church began to dream of relocating to provide for more space to grow. The Lord provided 32 acres on the edge of town to serve as the new site. |

Today First Baptist is blessed to have over 60,000 sq ft of ministry space in four major buildings on 32 beautiful acres in a growing community. |
The Challenge is that FBCD has paid off over half of the costs of the facility and now has a debt of just under 2 million dollars. |
With over 1500 members, about 1/3 are committed to giving to the budget, ministries and building funds. |

God has blessed in the last few years by allowing sacrificial giving of over $300,000 to the "Wings of Faith" to pay off principal on the loan. |
Report
Twice a year, the First Family sets aside a day of giving to pay down the principal on the loan. On the first "Wings of Faith" Sunday in 2003, over $100,000 was given. On May 2nd, 2004, over $42,000 was given. On the First Sunday of November, the second "Wings of Faith" Offering was taken and $45,000 plus was given. Over the last five years, "Wings of Faith" offerings have ranged from $40,000 to almost $200,000 each spring and fall.
In the last graph, you can see that if we pay only the payments, it will take 18 years to reduce the debt. If we pay an extra $100,000 or $200,000 a year, the time shortens. But if we pay an additional, $300,000 a year to the principal, the debt can be paid off in less than 7 years.
Pray about giving to "Wings of Faith" in April and November of 2009. Your gift can make the difference!
