150 Years of Ministry in Wise County FBC Decatur was one of the pioneer organizations in
1856 - 2006
"A Fabulous Heritage, A Future Harvest"
When
Around 1880, the church relocated to new facilities nearer the center of the city, northwest of the present courthouse square, but was destroyed in a storm in 1903. Click here to see the boys Sunday School Class of 1909.
FBC voted to move, and therefore purchased land south of the courthouse on
In June of 1982, FBC attained their certification of Incorporation.
In 1989, FBC purchased 32.9 acres on Hwy. 51 South and Preskitt Road for future growth, and in 1993, the first building project had begun. In August of 1997, the first worship service was held in what is now the Family Life Center. 2001 documents the dedication service as the church family marched from the FLC to the new sanctuary for its first service.
